The JPL Sonification Wall is a large interactive wall that allows users to explore scientific data through sound and motion. The first piece created for the wall premiered at NASA's CreateSpace at SXSW 2025. The piece is a sonification of ocean currents from NASA's ECCO model and ocean temperatures from GHRSST. Water with a higher temperature is heard as higher pitched notes and faster moving currents are louder and more intense. Over 20 thousand people passed through the exhibit over 2 days and learned about temperature gradients and current rings in a way they'll never forget.
